i was just reading the other day in Mark,
“With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it; he did not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything in private to his disciples.”
i was on my daily morning walk around our property yesterday, asking the Lord about this, actually seeking direction about this blog. my initial thought in sharing this discipleship journal was that it could be quick & easy : all text, no photos, super-simple—i could type up a quick post at the start of a day! but josh & i were talking on monday, during our weekly date night up in the cupola, about the place for “adorning” the gospel. it seems, on the one hand, like truth should really need no adornment, except…the Truth also comes with Spirit, an inseparable companion—perhaps like truth & beauty. perhaps like deep gospel principles told through parables (accessible examples!), perhaps like a blog with photos, conveyed through the context of one person’s particular home + farm life.
i can be super-serious-spiritual, but i am also very, very human. i love beauty & color, stories & flowers, & i love a good photo essay! so…these posts may come less frequently than i initially thought, but i’m going to try spending a little more time on them, not making them simply didactic & textual, but often contextual, as well. and…we’ll see how that works! often i don’t know if or how something works until i try it, so please bear with me as i figure out the most effective means of discipleship here (or elsewhere)! also…wondering if some of you prefer audio? please let me know via comments or email if y’all would like me to read these & put them into a podcast format. i started (then set aside) a podcast class last year (which would be fun to pick up again), and josh is game to help me pull it together if that’s a format you all would appreciate 🤎.
