hello.
welcome to little phlox farm!
“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.”
Luke 12:32
phlox is for flowers. i’m a lover of flowers, foraged & grown. you’ll find the perennial variety of phlox in pinks & purples lining the roadsides here in michiana in early spring, the annual variety in warm neutrals (with luscious names like dulce de leche & creme brulee!) in my flower garden by early summer.
phlox is for the animals you’ll find here on our farm—ten henopausal chickens & four lively goats.
phlox is for the little flock i shepherd as a mother to my five—heron, shepherd, peregrin, poppy, & willow.
and phlox is for flame, in greek, which represents the Holy Spirit.
this site is primarily a venue to share what we learn + do + make here in our homeschool : Little Phlox Folk School, where we spend our days together pursuing God (discipleship), learning traditional skills (industry), and using our gifts to serve others (service).
we’re motivated by I Thessalonians 4:10-12, which urges us : “make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands…so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.”
